X.VILITUR – The Modular Helmet from Nexx

Nexx let out some sneak previews of their latest crash helmet to hit the market a short while ago and we’re so glad it didn’t dissapoint when the final product was revealed. Nexx are still relatively unknown amongst the big fish of the crash helmet manufacturers, but they’re certainly making quite a splash. They’ve been known for their aggressive styling on the N.D1 and X.WED2 Adventure style crash helmets, and the association with Touratech helmets, too. But I believe the newest crash helmet release will put their name firmly in there amongst the big boys that manufacture modular helmets. Modular Helmets are a bit like marmite, you either love them or hate them – the lower budget ones tend to be noisy and lack build quality but they do serve a great purpose. ...

Queue the haters – Yamaha Niken: First Ride

I can’t think of a bike in history that has or will divide opinions quite as much as this bike… I’m absolutely amazed! Following the official launch of the Yamaha Niken in May this year, there have been several appearances of the new machine and we had a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the new Yamaha 3 Wheeled machine and take the bike out for a test ride on the fantastic roads in Derbyshire. Yamaha has more often than not been at the forefront of new idea’s and new technology in the motorcycle world, and they’ve continued to do so with the new Yamaha Niken. They’ve been developing the bike and its new ‘parallelogram steering system’ for some time, perfecting, tweaking and really refining the system before throwing it out on the mar...

So let’s get down to brass tacks on how we really feel about this new bike. Spoiler… there is a few grumbles and moans! The Look This is a good looking bike, no seriously, a very good looking bike. Visually, standing back, the new Explorer doesn’t look too dissimilar from the 2017 version, but it’s when you get closer to the bike...

Early Preview: Argentine MotoGP – 10 days to go…

It’s only 8 days until free practice and 10 days until race day at the Argentine GP, but what can we expect? MotoGP MotoGP returns to Argentina for the 5th consecutive year and with two previous victories for, Marc Marquez and one for Valentino Rossi, it’s already shaping up to be a great race. After taking first spoils in Qatar, Andrea Dovizioso will be looking to keep up his good form and extend the fresh 5 point lead on last years MotoGP Champion, Marc Marquez. The first race of the calendar lived up to expectations and presented us with a 22 lap thriller with spills and edgy overtaking and we’re looking forward to what the Argentine GP will bring us. Dovizioso’s teammate, Jorge Lorenzo will also be looking to make an impact after picking himself up after an issu...

Dovizioso takes chequered flag in Qatar!

Dovi fends off current World Champion Marquez in last corner fight! Oh MotoGP, how we’ve missed you! MotoGP is well and truly back and we were blessed with a stunning race to kick things off in Qatar. The Ducati rider started 5th on the grid and spent the majority of his time chasing the pack until the last 5 laps where he progressed through and the straight line speed of the Ducati helped slingshot the rider in to P1. Although unable to break a gap between reigning World Champion Marquez and Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi, Dovi held the pace through the last few laps in Qatar. In classic Marquez style, a last corner attack put the spaniard in P1 for a very brief moment but the Ducati rider anticipated the move and took the inside line to accelerate back in to P1 and cross the finish...

GoPro Hero 6 Black review: Superb quality, but you pay for it

**Original Post Credit – Jonathan Bray – alphr.com Who needs an action camera these days? That’s the question I found myself asking while testing GoPro’s latest Hero 6 Black. With modern smartphones now so good at shooting video and taking pictures, and also becoming more resistant to the elements, the number of people for whom action devices are appropriate (or attractive) appears to be dwindling by the day. Still, there are some circumstances in which only a rugged head-, body- or bike-mountable device like this will do. I’m not sure I’d want 180g of glass slab attached to my head while bungee-jumping off a bridge to an early coronary, or while descending some twisty, wooded Welsh singletrack on my ageing mountain bike to the painful accompaniment of creaking knees. And altho...
